Dear Forum
I'm looking for a DS solution for my University institution, we are looking for a software based system as we already have screens and lots of computers we can utilize (also a LAN in place). The system has to be updated with ease as our admin and less technical staff will be updating the content. We will have a total of 4 screens that, for much of the time, will display the same information but on occasion the screens will need to display different information, this will also need to be scheduled and automated. The option to add a PCI TV tuner card would be required and the ability to add video files to an area of the screen, also RSS feeds for news and weather reports.
My question is - which is/are the best software based systems? I have trailed the demo version of Truknox i-lite but this demo version is limited.
Any help would be great
many thanks

No problem, we don't enforce you to purchase hardware and/or screens. If you already have hardware onsite, then I'd happily test this is capable of running signagelive and you can continue to use this. We often have customers who have their own hardware and we try to make things as easy as possible for you.
The system has to be updated with ease as our admin and less technical staff will be updating the content.
You can add as many users on your network as your desire, we don't charge for users and this is unlimited. We do also have different levels of User Priveleges, such as Administrator, User, Support and Custom RSS Editor.
We will have a total of 4 screens that, for much of the time, will display the same information but on occasion the screens will need to display different information, this will also need to be scheduled and automated
With signagelive you can display the same content to all screens, individual screens or a group of screens - It's purely up to you. We offer three levels of deployment grouping, so you can set it up to deploy to certain sites, classrooms, floors, receptions or even year groups; you determine the grouping to suit your needs.
Content can be scheduled to deploy straight away or anytime in the future. There is no limit to how far you can schedule content in future, plus if you just want to update the RSS Feeds then you can just update these and won't need to redeploy all content.
The option to add a PCI TV tuner card would be required and the ability to add video files to an area of the screen, also RSS feeds for news and weather reports.
You can easily use a TV Tuner Card in signagelive and display the TV Channels that have been found. European customers that have achieved this before generally use the Hauppauge HVR 1100 or 2200; we have a US customer using NTSC who got the Hauppauge 950Q model to work.
Free Trial?
We can offer you a free 30 day trial, which you can setup by going to signagelive Free Trial.
This is a fully automated system and you'll be underway testing the system within minutes. We'll also send you a licence key, which will allow you to register a player of your choice to your network. You will also find at the top right of your network a button called Live Help, which acts a instant messenger between yourself and our Support Team - feel free to use this as much as you need during a trial period.
.. and finally
Sorry if that seems a lot to read, I'm the Customer Support Manager for signagelive and thanks for taking the time to read my response. If you do wish to take up a free trial, then feel free to mail me and I'll assist you as much as you require.
Kind Regards,

Hello,
I highly recommend that you research Tightrope Media Systems for your University digital signage needs. If you look at their install base listings you will find that they have hundreds of elementary, middle-school, high school and University clients. The overwhelming reason for such an adoption by educational clients is the ease of use for such powerful features.
