What roles can Digital Signage Play in the crisit response in Haiti?
This is a great opportunity for the Digital Signage industry to play a vital part in this worlwide aid movement for Haiti.
I want to hear from any resellers or manufacturers in this forum that are interested in donating equipments to help setup a Mobile Digital Signage Network to help stream Emergency Notices and other related messages to help during the relief effort.
The Digital Signage Expo - DSE 2010 is around the corner on February 23-25 in Las Vegas.
We can setup a booth to highlight any contributions in this aid effort and solicit help for ongoing recovery efforts.
I was trying to get a free pass to DSE 2010, but I missed the deadline.
Will any of you be attending DSE 2010 in Las Vegas?
A lot of eyes are on Haiti and I personally think that it will be a great business decision for any company in the Digital Signage industry to take part in this effort be recognized for it. Please spread the word and let me know what's possible.
Internet access will not be a problem. We just need the equipments to get started.
We can ask the Internet providers to join in the effort and provide free Internet Access.
As we say in French: L'espoir fait vivre, (Hope give strengh for living)
In the US, we have CNN and other News outlets that keep us up to date on the latest.
Most of the People in Haiti are not aware of the outpouring of love and support coming from around the world.
I would like to bring that to them.
Showing slideshows of rescuers saving lives, showing pictures of others around the Haiti struggling just like them.
Showing the amount of money being raised.
Showing Emergency Aid information and where to find help
Showing Weather Info and Medical Messages on Disease prevention.
Digital Signage can play a big role, Please let's make it happen.

Haiti Earthquake - Digital Signage's Role?

Here is one idea, your feedback is welcome.
1. Deploy several Mobile Vans/Trucks with large TV screens that will show Emergency messages, news clips from CNN and other media sources and Heath messages on Sanition and Disease prevention.
2. These Vans/Trucks will have Internet Access, (WiMax or Satellite) and be tracked with GPS and the messages on the screen will be controlled from a central location. (SAAS companies, please jump in

For example: The Red Cross want to send an important message to the people that are encamps in the park outside the National Palace (behind Anderson Copper/CNN) to let these people know that the next food delivery will happen at 5:00PM. Using the GPS locator, I can find out which VAN/Truck is in the vicinity of the National Palace and direct the driver to drive to the Park and once in place, this message will be played for about an hour or so.
4. Think about it, we can direct these Vans in hotspots around the city and even in remote towns as needed.
The technology is available; Internet Access is not a problem.
We simply need some resources to make it happen.
And best of all, this can happen with a few weeks.
We will need the following: (Most of which could be donated by willing companies)
1. Large LCD Monitors
2. Portable Generators
3. Rent/Lease a few Vans/Trucks
4. Internet Access (Satellite or WIMAX)
5. A team of drivers, IT professionals and Administrators to coordinate with the other NGOs. (All of which are available in Haiti)
Again, this is a great opportunities for companies in DOOH industry to participate.
The equipments will be owned by a Non-profit US based organization.
Please help spread the word.
