(Topic Moved From Tradeshows)
Hello!
I'm new here. I've been browsing tons of forums for an idea of what to do. I was laid off from my job about 3 month ago. I've been looking for a job since then, but did not even get a single interview. I worked as a web designer for a publishing company for the last 5 years. Looks like digitalsignageuniverse.net is an active forum with active members and may be someone has some experience working as a freelance web designer. May be "TRADESHOWS: Tradeshows Expos Meetings and Events" category is not the most appropriate for this question, but I want to try anyways to get some opinions before I go ahead with my life. I'm wondering if it is possible in the current economy to find work for a freelance web designer and make enough to pay for rent and groceries. I was able to find a small project on craigslist and I developed a website for a company. It was a small project and took me only a week to complete. I got paid $800 for 1 week of work which is not bad. Please people give me some ideas. I have 2 kids and my wife is out of work as well. Thank you in advance.

Keep up the attitude, You are not the only one, however that does not pay the bills. as a real estate broker (15) years, and a ReMax sales manager I went from 70-80 grand in the midwest market to zero for the last 65 weeks !!! what a shock You have some opportunities. I spent 10 months and what little resources I have to learn about Dig-Sign, an it is a growth industry, there is room for talented people. I have been shopping web site construction for the past week and there seems to be a large difference in content and pricing, it seems that $1,500.00 dollars seems to be an average cost, but there is also prices of 400-500 for a 10 page templare. not including maintence or hosting. Craig's list is full of advertisements so that may give you an average to play with. You might consider hooking up with a digital signage OOH company and design content for them I pay beteen 35-75 dollars @ 15 second ad, my guys can pump them out on flash in 20 to 30 min. another posibility is web referrals: example... When some one buys an ad on our network we list them on a web site as a link there fore if a consumer sees the ad but can't remember thier contact information then they can go to our web site and link back to that store and get the contact information. Oh you don"t have a web site Mr. advertiser? I will have our web guy give you a call. ... Might be worth a try. Good luck and see you later.
